Social Services: From Survey to Action

A community survey completed in early 2025 identified five priorities: housing affordability, food insecurity, mental health concerns, homelessness, and support for seniors. Every priority item now has an action plan. Housing affordability is being addressed through Regional funding of the Kindred Works project and increasing supply via downtown revitalization. Feed the Need Durham is now providing free food to Loaves & Fishes. Durham Region social services is fully supporting organizational changes and renewing funding to North House. A Provincial grant is pending to significantly expand services to Uxbridge seniors.
