Bruce Garrod
Longtime Uxbridge resident. Durham Regional Councillor representing our township on Durham Regional Council.

Uxbridge has been home since 1999. My wife and I raised our family here - coaching, sponsoring, and managing dozens of youth sports teams. Those years showed us firsthand what makes Uxbridge special.
My career was in the private sector and independent consultancy, primarily focused on project management. Along the way, I developed a firm belief that good governance is mostly about showing up, listening, doing your homework, and then doing the unglamorous work of turning ideas into results.
Local council, 2018–2022
I first ran for Uxbridge Council in 2018 and served as Ward 3 Councillor and Chair of Finance. As Alternate Member of Regional Council, I learned first-hand how much of what affects daily life in Uxbridge is actually decided at the regional level; services like transit, policing, paramedics, water, roads, public health and social services.
Regional Councillor & Deputy Mayor, 2022–today
In 2022 Uxbridge voters entrusted me with the Regional Councillor seat. In January 2026, Mayor Barton appointed me Deputy Mayor. Durham Regional Council has 29 members representing eight municipalities - Uxbridge holds two of those seats. My job is to make sure Uxbridge’s voice is at the Regional table, and to bring Durham’s resources back to our community.
Committee & board roles
Representing Uxbridge across Durham Region and beyond:
- Vice-Chair, Durham Region Transit Executive Committee
- Vice-Chair, Durham Region Finance and Administration Committee
- Durham Region Council representative on the 911 Management Board
- Vice-Chair, Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority (CLOCA)
- Member, Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (LSRCA) Executive Board
- Chair, Uxbridge Council Administration and Special Projects Committee
A productive term
This has been a productive term. The long-term care home is being built. The Province has committed to firm construction timelines for the new hospital build. Much needed police visibility has been provided. Regional commitment to support affordable rentals is in place. Social services including mental health, increased food for Loaves and Fishes, and an action plan to enhance support regarding homelessness and addiction management are in progress. Transit ridership in Uxbridge is up dramatically.
I am very proud of what our team has achieved. There is, however, more work to do, and I’m asking for your trust again to keep at it.
